Our Trip to Savannah for Ben's 40th

Hey Y'all! I hope your week is off to a GREAT start! I am feeling productive and like life is back in order after being gone for 4 days.

Last Thursday, Ben and I dropped off the kids at school and headed to Savannah to celebrate his 40th Birthday!

We arrived in Savannah around 12:30 and headed straight to the golf course for Ben's 1:20 tee time.

We grabbed a drink and headed to the #1 tee box.

He plays golf and I drink wine. Sounds like a fair trade! 😉 I even brought along my FAVORITE stainless steel wine tumbler.

Living his best life. On a golf course, smoking a cigar, drinking his favorite bourbon, with his favorite person.

He played golf at The Club at Savannah Harbor. It was a BEAUTIFUL course.

Golf cart selfie

Hole 5 was when we saw the first wildlife.

Look at the turtle just sitting next to him.

This course was breathtaking. We are already planning to take the kids over Fall Break because Ian would have loved to play this course.

Love this sweet man of mine.

Can you spy the 3 gators?

We came around the turn at 17 and saw the big daddy. Holy moly he was HUGE!

Can you see him compared to Ben? Eek we were to close. But he didn't move. Thank goodness.

After golf, we headed to the hotel. We stayed at the Marriott Riverfront.

It was very nice and clean.

View from the balcony of our room.

We went to dinner at Fiddler's Crab house. It was pretty good. I had the shrimp tacos and Ben got the shrimp and grits.
We sat outside and enjoyed watching the boats go by.

After dinner, we went to Riverstreet Sweets for ice cream.

Friday morning, we took our time getting ready and headed to B. Matthew's for a late breakfast. It was delicious and I highly recommend it if you ever make your way to Savannah.

Then we just started walking around and ended up at The City Market. and I know y'all are not shocked that we ended up at The Georgia Tasting room. They offered wines from Georgia, The Carolina's, and Florida.

Then we found our way to River Street where a little festival was going on and I got a new toe ring. Savannah has no open container law so you can walk around drinking. I thought it was fabulous.

After walking around for a little while longer we made our way back to the hotel to relax. We sat outside and watched the cargo ships go by. We enjoyed another glass of wine and Ben smoked a cigar.

Friday evening we had dinner at the Chart House. It was very good. I got a steak. Then we headed back to the hotel and sat out by the fire and talked with another couple that we met from Chicago for 3 hours.

Saturday morning, we went back to B. Matthew's for breakfast. I told y'all it was good. Then we drove down to Tybee Island and walked around for a little bit. It was so windy and pretty chilly. I couldn't believe the people that were in the water.

We eventually drove back to Savannah, parked the truck, and walked around again. I love all the spanish moss hanging from the trees.

We popped into another restaurant to grab a drink and a sandwich to share.

Saturday evening, we had dinner reservations at Alligator Soul. This restaurant was absolutely amazing. It's a farm to table style restaurant and even serves exotic meats like elk, deer, and alligator.

We were a little early so we bellied up to the bar. 😉 and each enjoyed a wine flight.

When I made reservations, I let them know that it was Ben's birthday and the chef had a little surprise waiting for him at the table. It was pecan truffles.

We shared a bottle of the Chateau De Pez. It was delicious.

We had the best time celebrating Ben's 40th birthday. Happy Birthday Honey. I love you!!

If you ever get a chance to visit Savannah, it's a beautiful city with lots of history.
