Welcome to our Home
Thursday, August 23, 2018
I have been wanting to share a home tour for some time now but it just kept getting pushed back because of my whole dishwasher/floor issue. GUESS WHAT?!?!?! Last Monday, I got NEW floors. If you are a long time reader then you know how much I love to show y'all how I decorate for holidays. I thought it would be fun to show you guys our everyday decor.
My china is one of my prized possessions. Ben's grandmother hand-painted each piece for us. His grandparents had 4 daughters. Those 4 daughters had 7 grandsons. She hand-painted herself and her 4 daughters a 12 piece place setting. Then, she processed to paint the 7 grandsons an 8 piece place setting. She was so talented.
Moving into the Living Room.
Fireplace and Mantle. The mirror is from Kirkland's. That's what happens when you have a store about 2 miles from your house!
Welcome to our Home...
Here's a view into the kitchen from the living room.
Coffee Corner. You can read all the details about my Coffee Corner and how I love to make my house feel cozy here.
Love this counter filled with some of my favorite MudPie and Rae Dunn bowls. It has all of my everyday essentials on it for everyday cooking.
I changed the valance in the kitchen. I love these from JcPenny.
I had a burgundy colored valance before. I think the cool white looks SO MUCH BETTER.
My espresso cart. If your a long time reader then you know I love my Premier Protein Espresso drink.
This red hutch was Ben's grandmothers. It is gorgeous. It is filled with my favorite plates, dishes, casserole dishes, coffee mugs, glasses, bakeware, serving bowls...all of my FAVORITES
This is the counter next to my sink. I love the mixing bowl set from Kirkland's ( I can't find them online anymore). But the new Rae Dunn collection is pretty amazing. I love my new dish towels.
The little nook behind my sink. This little spot is SO MUCH FUN to change out for the seasons.
Let's take a peek into the Dining Room. Not a lot has changed in here except I added these curtains. I really think it changes the whole look of the room.
Centerpiece. I found the dough bowl while we were antique shopping. Colleen gave me the mercury jars for my birthday and I had the hydrangeas.

The beloved bar cart. Oh, the fun I have decorating this little guy. Check out all it's different looks here.
Fireplace and Mantle. The mirror is from Kirkland's. That's what happens when you have a store about 2 miles from your house!
My cozy corner next to the fireplace. My FAVORITE place to sit each morning to enjoy coffee and Jesus.
I love my little self to the left of my fireplace. After I took this picture, I realized it had steam in the picture. It is from my diffuser.
This little box is PERFECT to hold my essential oils. Do you difuse oils? If so, what's your favorite blend? I made the decal for the top of it.
Here is the loveseat. Can you see Duke? He loves sitting on the end table to look out the window.
This table I found at an Antique Shop in Cartersville, GA. Ella and I love going antique shopping with Grammy.
My new Entryway. I bet you are surprised the bench came from Kirkland's 😉
Here is the view of our living room coming down the stairs from our bedrooms.
This has been our home for 15 years as of August 15th. We love our home. We have brought home both of our babies to this house. The decor has changed A LOT over 15 years.
One thing I wish I could change about our house is that it faces the West...Well, we all know from school that the sunsets in the West which makes my living room really BRIGHT and HOT in the evenings. I really don’t like closing my blinds at 6:00 pm because that is usually when my kids are outside playing with the neighborhood kids and I love being able to glance out the window to do a headcount.
I didn’t think there was anything I could do about it for the longest time, but I recently found an Atlanta-based company called UHS Window Tinting and Blinds. Co-owned by Matt Erbrick and Robin Staveley, this family-owned and operated company offers window tinting services, as well as window treatments such as blinds.
Apparently, window films or window tinting can help with excess heat, excess cold, high energy costs (which I’m sure everyone in Georgia has been dealing with lately), as well as other benefits such as safety and security. You may be wondering how window films help with cooling down your house, right? Well, let me explain:
They help reject the sun’s heat while preserving your view, they complement and protect your decorative curtains and blinds, and they increase the comfort of your home. UHS Window Tinting and Blinds say, “As the sun strikes glass, the window film acts as a shield that blocks harmful UV rays, as well as regulates the amount of heat that passes through the glass. In turn, the interior of your office or home will have a more comfortable temperature, even without increasing the cooling or air conditioning capacity in the room. By simply having a window film on your glass doors and windows, you can be protected from the sun and reduce your energy costs at the same time.” In turn, they reduce up to 78% of the sun’s heat, evenly disperse natural light, and block up to 99% of harmful ultraviolet rays.
This is definitely something to check into, in my opinion, if you are struggling with high energy bills and uncomfortable rooms!
See how bright it can get in the evenings.

I hope you enjoyed a tour of our home.
A Day in the Life...
Wednesday, August 22, 2018
Hey Friends! I hope your week is going good so far. I always love "A Day in the Life" post! I love to see what goes on during people's day to day life. Does that make me nosy? #yes 😉
Today, I thought I would share A Day in My Life. I often get asked what I do all day since I don't "work". These are the post that I know I will look back on and cherish. These are the days that I know I am going to truly miss.
Let's see how I spent Monday, August 20th.
6:00 AM: Every morning starts with coffee.
Breakfast and a little blog reading.

Let's see how I spent Monday, August 20th.
6:00 AM: Every morning starts with coffee.
and Jesus.
By 8:15, I had gotten 2 kids ready for school and dropped off, folded a load of laundry, started another load of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, and got myself ready.
8:30 AM: I loaded up my car to take another load of stuff to Goodwill.
9:00-10:00 AM- I worked out.
10:00-11:30 AM- I dropped off GoodWill, got gas, and grocery shopped.
11:30 AM- Publix sub for lunch.
12:15-2:15 PM - I worked on more laundry, blog stuff, cleaning up the garage, and working on orders.
2:15 PM- I grabbed my carpool essentials and went to pick up Ian. You can see how I make my favorite shake here.
3:20 PM- I went to pick up Ella from school.
4:15 PM- I dropped off Ian and his friend, Timmy, at the middle school volleyball game.
4:45-6:00 PM- I listened to this sweet girl play "teacher" while I folded towels. Then I added another coat of glitter to a few orders and chopped veggies for dinner.
While watching Hart of Dixie.
6:15 PM- I picked up the boys.
6:30 PM- I grilled the veggies and chicken for dinner. Teriyaki Chicken Bowls for the win.
All while still watching Hart of Dixie and enjoying a Truly.
After dinner, I cleaned up the dishes and got lunches and snacks ready for the next day.
7:30 PM- I went through my email and got Tuesday's blog post ready.
8:45 PM- I finally sat down for the day to read for about 20 minutes and enjoy another Truly.
9:30 PM- I was sound asleep for the evening.
Linking up with Lindsay and other for Welcome Wednesday
