Friday Favorites {Dr. Seuss}

Hello Friday and Hello 3 day weekend!
The kids are out of school today for teacher planning!

Today is Friday Favorites

I'm linking up with ErikaNarci, and Andrea

Read Across America week is one of my FAVORITE weeks,
so I am dedicating this Friday Favorites to Dr. Seuss!!

Each day this week, the kids or should I say Ella participated in a theme Dr. Seuss related
Here is a list of each day's activities!

Ella took her stripe wearing VERY serious~

Hello, I am The Lorax!!

Oh PJ Day,  I heart you!!

Ok-Confession time:(
I totally forgot to take pictures each morning
so Ella dressed up again yesterday afternoon so I could snap pictures!!
Mornings are crazy around here!! lol

I starting dressing up as Cat in the Hat when Ella was in Kindergarten and Ian was in 3rd grade!

Ella and I when she was in Kindergarten

Ian's 3rd grade class {see the little boy next to me in the red shirt and you and barely see his head...yep that's Ian} The first and last time he let me dress up and read to his class :(

Here is Ella and I from last year!

Ella- 1st grade

Ian wouldn't let me read to him in 4th grade but he did let me change and eat lunch with him!

Here is this year's festivities

With my handy dandy heat press, I whipped out a Thing 2 shirt!

Cat in the Hat with her Thing 2!
Most of the kids today called me
Mrs. Cat in the Hat! ;)

A goofy shot!!

Ella's second grade class- Mrs. Horne!

This year I made "Thing" cupcakes!

The cupcake holder is from TJ Maxx.
It is a FAVORITE!!
Very easy to transport and the cupcakes can't turnover
unless you completely turn the holder upside down!! ;)

I made a cream cheese icing from Ella's American girl baking book!
It was good but I'm not sure that I will make it again.

My FAVORITE icing is this recipe from Unsophisticook

Best Buttercream Frosting
Yield: 3 cups
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup salted butter (2 sticks), softened
  • 4 cups confectioner's sugar, sifted
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3-5 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions:
  1. Using a paddle beater, beat softened butter on medium speed for about 3 minutes.
  2. Add sifted confectioner's sugar and stir on low until incorporated.
  3. Add vanilla extract and 3 tablespoons of heavy cream. Beat on medium-high for 3 minutes, stopping to scrape the sides once or twice.
  4. If a thinner frosting is desired, add additional heavy cream 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.

In 5th grade, Ian wanted NO part of it! He didn't even ask to have lunch with him:( Which is NOT my FAVORITE
